Hockey comes to an end

Well Quinn's first hockey season has come to an end. We got some great feedback from his coach who said he really came a long way in the 8 weeks he was in the league and he thinks Quinn is going to be a really good player if he wants to keep at it (the other kids were in the league for 16 weeks). After 2 weeks of using the pusher (the pic from the newspaper shows this training device) Quinn progressed really fast to the point were he got to play in the Sunday scrimmages the last 4 weeks. He scored 5 goals in his debut and he never looked back. He even scored in his last scrimmage against "the big kids", they are in their second year of the program. His coach told him he did a great job, and Quinn quickly became the talk of the other coaches as they watched him hit a cone placed on the ice with the puck "dead on" in a practice drill twice and in his games, twice he skated across the front of the goalie and backhanded the puck past the goalie. As they went on and on about how good he is I told them he just just watches the Mighty Duck's movie A LOT! After their last game each kid got a trophy and they treated the kids to a pizza party afterward. In the picture with Quinn is his new friend Kyle. We are going to try and make it down to Green Bay at least once a month to one of the indoor skating rinks so he can maintain what he's learned before next season starts in October. I'm sure it's going to take some time for him to get over not being able to go to the rink since he asks every day if we can go. We declined the option to join a year round team in GB (way too much driving for a 4yr old to play any sport!) and he's already signed up for Soccer if the snow ever melts around here! There's no doubt that the GAVMAN is his brothers biggest fan. He's the first to tell him "good job Quinn" after every game and he can't wait for Quinn to start soccer too!
